The marketing campaign arm for Home Republicans is including 10 Democratic lawmakers to its checklist of 47 seats held by what it considers to be susceptible Democrats within the chamber that it sees as potential pickup alternatives for the GOP within the 2022 midterm elections.

Nationwide Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) chair Rep. Tom Emmer, in unveiling the expanded checklist Tuesday, touted that “Republicans are on offense all throughout the nation.”

Emmer, R-Minn., argued that “each Home Democrat is dealing with an uphill battle having to defend their poisonous socialist agenda that prioritizes trillion-dollar tax hikes on the center class, opens our borders, closes our faculties and defunds the police.”

The announcement comes per week after the U.S. Census Bureau launched preliminary numbers from the 2020 Census. In keeping with the once-in-a-decade congressional apportionment, GOP-controlled states, comparable to Texas and Florida, are among the many states gaining Home seats, whereas California, New York and Illinois, the place Democrats management the levers of presidency, are among the many states dropping seats.

All 10 new targets come from states which are dropping a congressional seat.

The brand new Democrats being spotlighted are Reps. Ami Bera (CA-07), Jim Costa (CA-16) and Raul Ruiz (CA-36) of California, Marie Newman of Illinois (IL-03), Dan Kildee of Minnesota (MI-05), Kathleen Rice (NY-04), Paul Tonko (NY-20), Joe Morelle (NY-25) and Brian Higgins (NY-26) of New York and Chrissy Houlahan of Pennsylvania.

The NRCC in February put out its authentic checklist of 47 Home Democrats that it considers susceptible.

The GOP managed the Home for eight years earlier than dropping the majority within the chamber within the 2018 midterms amid a wave by Home Democrats. However Republicans defied expectations and took a giant chunk out of the Democrats’ majority in November’s elections and presently solely have to flip 5 seats in 2022 to regain management of the chamber.
